Mental Health Technology
Transfer Centers\u00a0<\/h1>\n

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) established Mental Health Technology Transfer Centers (MHTTCs) during the years of 2018 – 2024 to facilitate the development of the nation\u2019s mental health workforce. The MHTTC Network included a Network Coordinating Office, 10 MHTTC Regional Centers, a Tribal Affairs Center, and a Hispanic and Latino Center.<\/p>\n

Rutgers School of Health Professions, Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions, was awarded the Northeast and Caribbean MHTTC for Federal Region II serving New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.<\/p>\n

SAMHSA provided funding to the MHTTC to support training and consultation in the area of school mental health to teachers and school staff regarding mental health services for students. It is under this supplemental funding that we were able to offer training and consultation directly to schools and community organizations affiliated with the work of schools. We had the capacity and expertise to provide national webinars, general trainings, professional development meetings, and intensive technical assistance\/consultation services on school mental health topics.<\/p>\n

The Center for Effective Schools (CES) is a nonprofit research and training center dedicated to building the capacity of schools and other child-serving institutions to better serve children and adolescents with, and at risk for developing, emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD), through the use of evidence-based practices.<\/p>\n

Through training, consultation and applied research, CES offers a comprehensive array of services for children and adolescents in K-12 public schools, charter schools, alternative schools and private schools, as well as in other child-serving settings such as early childhood programs, behavioral health and residential treatment facilities.<\/p>\n

The CES adheres to an applied research framework, utilizing data-based decision-making to ensure the highest quality of service delivery. The theoretical foundation of this work is based in applied behavior analysis and positive behavior support and, to the extent possible, delivered within a preventative or early intervening framework. CES projects have been funded through a combination of contracts and private foundation and government grants.<\/p>\n
