Mind Care Matters
This series for administrators, supervisors and staff provides an overview of effective programs to inspire and support people with mental health conditions. Host and psychiatric rehabilitation expert, Dr. Michelle Zechner, explores new and emerging psychiatric rehabilitation techniques, education and research to help people living with mental health conditions to live, work and love beyond the symptoms of mental health conditions. Topics will include: peer-delivered services; mind-body interventions; focus on supporting people in the LGBTQ+ community; supported employment; integrated physical and mental health care; clinical supervision; supported education among others. Join us to talk about some of the newest ideas in mental health interventions.

Dr. Michelle Zechner is an Assistant Professor at Rutgers, Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Programs. She has worked promoting health, wellness and self-care strategies for over 15 years for people with mental health conditions, family members, and the staff who support them. She has worked in a variety of settings including community and inpatient mental health settings, and nursing homes. Currently, she offers training and consultation for mental health professionals, teaches students and conducts research on health and wellness services.

The Northeast & Caribbean MHTTC served New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands and was based at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, within the School of Health Professions, Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions.
During this time period, the organization provided essential training, technical assistance, and resource dissemination to support and enhance the mental health workforce.
With funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the MHTTC collaborated with organizations and practitioners providing mental health services to enhance their capacity for delivering effective, evidence-based interventions.
